Autopass for international visitors

After attending the Summer Rally I plan to drive north as far as Kristiansund, then back to Oslo via Lillehammer.

I am trying to understand the Autopass system and what is required for international drivers.

I started to create an account on https://minside.autopass.no/

Which Autopass toll service provider is recommended?

I think I also have to provide details of our MX5 to www.autopass.no/ed in order to be charged the correct rate by toll road operators.

Is there any benefit to linking this to ferry services? or is it easier to just pay with cash/card on arrival?

Ferries I plan on using include ....

Mortavika to Årsvågen
Sandvikvåg to Halhjem
Oppedal to Lavik
Eidsdal to Linge
Afarnes to Solsnes

I also plan to take the Hellesylt to Geirangerfjord ferry, but realise this is best booked in advance.

Thanks for advice you can offer.

Nick.

I don’t use autopass for ferries when I drive around in Norway. It’s no problem to buy ferry tickets with a VISA-card. To my knowledge there is no discounts by using AutoPass

Oh yes, there is. The Moss-Horten ferry do, and you can drive directly onboard. But this was new this year and might not taken to practice everywhere.

It does not matter witch Autopass toll service provider you use. The toll road system has one price up to 3500 kg, but differs on whether you have a petrol, diesel or electric vehicle. They might get this information via the EU/UK licence plate. Ask them.

Regarding the first connection north bound from Stavanger, there is 50% off the price with Autopass linked with the ferry company.
But the ferry company requires pre-paid amount.
This will in turn cost you more then you save.
And i don’t think you can use the same pre-paid agreement on all the connections you are aiming for.
Pre-paid for Boknafjord connection is around 3500,- NOK

Just with Autopass alone, you can enter automated entry gates and will get 10% off.
Price for 1 car <6 metres is 240,- NOK.

The other ferry connections i’m not sure about.

The toll rings are cheaper if you have agreement with local vendors.
Ie you can get higher discount percentages.
But for a one time passing, it’s quite impractical as it often requires multiple agreements that you will not save on before at least XX passings a month.

Hope this helps you a little.

You don't need any AutoPass Tag.
It's enough to register your car to ensure paying the correct amount for you car.
ref: https://www.autopass.no/en/visitors-payment

Driving several times in-and-out of the towns like Kristiansand, Stavanger, Bergen and Oslo will cost you.
Both Oslo and Bergen has PeakHours with extra high price.
For Bergen this is 06:30-09:00 and 14:30-16:30 during weekdays.

See prices on https://www.autopass.no/en/autopass
