Dette kan bety veldig moro for både vei og bane for en fornuftig sum med penger.
Mazda’s sprung a bit of a surprise for the Frankfurt motor show in the shape of this, the MX-5 Superlight.
And it’s like no version of the car in its 20-year history, stripped out of its non essentials inside and out to create a far lighter version of the world’s best-selling sports car.
One of those non-essentials is, as the picture reveals, the windscreen. In a nod to its Caterham namesake, the MX-5 Superlight goes without front glass putting a huge gulf between it and its Roadster Coupe sibling.
Little else is known about the Superlight yet, save for the fact it’s going to ‘take the lightweight technology that Mazda is famous for to a new level’ (their words, not ours), boosting performance, handling and efficiency in one fell swoop. Sounds like our kind of car.
For now it’s a show car only, but we’d be surprised if elements from the Superlight don’t trickle down to roadgoing MX-5s in one form or another. Perhaps not the windscreen (or lack of it), though…
