I was at the local Auto Zone a few minutes ago picking up a thermostat for my 54 Bel Air. In front of me was some guy returning a part he had bought saying it would not fit. I overheard the counter person ask him what car and the guy said "Mustang" so he looked it up, got the part number and gave him another part and indicated that it was the same part number but maybe it was packaged wrong or something. They did the swap and away the guy goes.
I get my thermostat and am about to pay when here comes the guy again and said the part wouldn't fit. The counterperson says "It is for a Ford Mustang, right?" and the guy says "yes" and the parts guy says that is the part to which the guy says it still won't fit. The parts guy asks again "your car is a Ford Mustang?" and the guy says "Yes it is parked right there " and points out the window. I am fairly close to the window so I look out and there isn't a Mustang anywhere to be found and I asked where he parked and he said "right there - the red Mustang". I look again because at my age you never know if you might not see something that is obviously there and again - no Mustang. I said "the red car right here?" and he said "yes".
Well here is where it gets really good. I said "that isn't a Mustang, that is a Mazda 626!" He says "no it isn't - that is a Mustang - a Ford Mustang" About this time I am thinking this guy is high or something but he is very coherent, etc and the parts person says "sir , that is a Mazda, not a Mustang". The guy argues again that the car is a Mustang and the part he got won't fit. Finally as I was leaving , the parts guy and a couple of other parts people went outside with him and showed him on the back of the car where it said "Mazda 626". As I was walking to my car I heard the guy say "well they told me it was a Mustang".
Obviously you don't have to be able to read to get a license - assuming he had one!!! Not sure what happened after that but either the guy was totally stupid OR a great actor. I go with the first one ...

Stakkar.
